2015 White House Conference on Aging

For someone who remembers all the concern about Y2K on our computer systems, it’s hard to believe that 2015 is just around the corner.

2015 is an important anniversary for those of us involved in elder care, and baby boomers alike.  It will mark the 50th anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid and the Older Americans Act, as well as the 80th anniversary of Social Security.

It will also be the year of the 7th White House Conference on Aging, which is an event that has occurred every decade since the 1960s. This year’s conference will mark the anniversary of these important government programs, and host important discussions about the coming decade.  Topics that older Americans and their advocates hope to see addressed include healthy aging, long term services and supports that will enable seniors to live independently, and the need to protect seniors from scams and those seeking to take advantage of them.

If you would like to provide input on proposed topics, or simply keep up on what is being planned, go to www.WhiteHouseConferenceOnAging.gov.
