Disabled Veterans Can Get Faster Decisions on Social Security Disability Benefits, Too

Carolyn W. Colvin, Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, recently unveiled a new initiative to expedite disability applications from veterans who have been rated 100%  Permanently and Totally (P&T) Disabled by the VA.Under the new process, Social Security will give high priority to the applications from these veterans, and issue expedited decisions similar to the way that disability claims from Wounded Warriors are being handled. “Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country and it is only right that we ensure they have timely access to the disability benefits they may be eligible for and deserve,” said Acting Commissioner Colvin.

This means that veterans who are rated 100% disabled will receive the same priority as the wounded warriors who are currently returning home from the Gulf Region.

  1. It is so great to know that veterans can get their disability benefits more quickly. We need to take care of the people who have done so much for our country, so I’m glad that this will help those who need it. I just hope that expediting these claims will lead to an increase in speed of the entire disability benefit claim process.
